San Martino View at Monti
Description
The apartment is on the first floor of an old building with a lift. It is composed of two double bed rooms (one room has a dual queen bed), a small delightful covered terrace, a fully-equipped kitchen (fridge with freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher), a living room with table, chairs and a sofa bed (for 2 people), TV, a bathroom with shower, and a wonderful view over the evocative square Piazza San Martino ai Monti. After strolling through Rome and visiting the historical buildings and squares of the city, you can relax on the terrace with a glass of wine. A cot, high chair, and toys for children are available. A “Renter Notebook” is available for our guests in English, German, Spanish, French and Italian and provides all sorts of information: instructions for the apartment, recommendations for restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance and the neighbourhood’s best hidden places for a meal.

Where San Martino is
Monti neighbourhood is an appealing and to some extent up-and-coming quarter of cobbled streets (sanpietrini in Italian) full of art galleries and wine bars (enoteche), bars and restaurants just to the east of the Coliseum. Some key sights in this area are:
Santa Maria Maggiore (with its unique Cosmatesque flooring), St. Peter in Chains, site of Michelangelo’s glorious sculpture of Moses, Nero’s Domus Area, the ancient residence of Nero with paintings and frescos, Santa Prassede, decorated with marvellous ninth-century mosaics and San Clemente a twelfth-century basilica that is a conglomeration of three places of worship. Set between Via Cavour and Via Nazionale, Monti is in part composed of Suburra, the ancient “Sub Urbe” (under the city) quarter, the lower parts of which give out onto the boulevard passing the Coliseum. The life in this neighbourhood revolves around the little piazza Madonna dei Monti and its Catecumeni Fountain designed by Giacomo della Porta.
Why Choose San Martino?
Because it will feel like a home from home and you will experience the city as if you were an inhabitant.
The apartment is as comfortable as being in your own home. The attention to detail leaves nothing to be desired. The apartment caters for everything: Wi-Fi, Air Conditioning , TV, basket of supplies to get started (dishwasher soap, etc.) and different types of pillows to maximize your comfort in bed. We supply everything you need to cook and eat you meals, including wine glasses. We pay special attention to children. A cot, high chair, plastic plates, cups and cutlery set, and toys are available.
There is a small delightful covered terrace where you can spend your time reading and enjoying food, and wine. An ideal place to unwind after a day spent sightseeing. You can have breakfast here in the morning, and sit out in the evening to drink your wine.
You are a stone’s throw away from the main archeological and historical sites: the Coliseum and the Forum are just 5 minutes walk away, as are the churches of Santa Maria Maggiore and San Pietro in Vincoli (where Michelangelo’s sculpture Moses is conserved).
The Rione Monti neighbourhood, where the flat is located, is one of the oldest and most characteristic of the city. Rione Monti is one of the most historical areas in Rome and loved by both Romans and tourists. The Monti neighbourhood has many excellent restaurants and ice-cream parlours as well as coffee bars and wine bars, to choose from.
While located in a lively spot, the apartment is quiet. You will sleep well after a long day.
Both Metro A and Metro B are very close.
A Renter Book provides all sorts of information: instructions for the apartment, recommendations for restaurants and ice-cream parlours as well as coffee bars and wine bars.
